AIR FRAME

Designed for IXC. by David Chipperfield, the Air Frame series is made from aluminum honeycomb panels. As the name implies, honeycomb panels possess a structure similar to that of a honey bee nest. Because they are both lightweight and highly durable, they have long been used in airplanes and trains. The name “Air Frame” comes from this honeycomb structure which makes the frame hollow. In addition to honeycomb panels, there are also versions of the low table, which have tops made from anodized panels, wormseed and milky white glass, making for a nice combination. All of the pieces make use of the unique characteristics of the materials. The simple, functional design makes this series perfect for living rooms and other public spaces.
