Philippe Hurel
PHILIPPE HUREL

Philippe Hurel is a highly talented designer from Paris who studied traditional interior in Belgium and once worked at the office of Raymond Loewy, one of the best known modern industrial designers, in the United States. Upon returning to France after studying both classic and modern design, he began to feel that there was a scarcity of furniture suitable for the modern lifestyle of this day and age. Philippe took over the family furniture manufacturing business, which had been passed down from his grandfather, and began to develop a thoroughly simplistic and elegant brand, absent of ornamentation, by tweaking the size and materials of exquisitely balanced classic furniture forms. The result was a furniture collection which employed the services of modern interior architects like Wilmotte and Grange and that was a major hit in Paris. Hurel’s next undertaking was his own original brand. The simple and natural Hurel Collection emphasizes the natural texture of wood and was widely acclaimed as a quality brand that would be the prelude to Paris’ Stilenuvo.
